Read Across America Day 2008

On Monday, March 3, The Pike School joined the rest of the country in honoring the National Education Association's "Read Across America Day," the nation's largest celebration of reading. Lower School Reading Specialist Susan Hauptman organized the event by inviting faculty and staff from all divisions and departments to spend a few minutes reading a favorite old or new picture book to small groups in Lower School. "We want to show the children that everybody likes to read and that picture books are enjoyed by all ages," she said. "It will also be a community-building event in that our students will get to know another member or two of our Pike community."  Twenty-three faculty and staff volunteered.
