Grade 2 Bat Houses

Scott Santino and Rita Gallant from Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary visited the Second Grade to enrich the students’ studies of bats.  Scott is a Sanctuary naturalist and Rita is a volunteer/docent.  Mr. Santino first delivered a PowerPoint presentation to the assembled grade. Individual classes, assisted by parent volunteers, then built bat houses, using materials and tools provided by Mr. Santino and Ms. Gallant. Afterwards, the visitors led walks throughout the Pike grounds to select places to mount the houses.
