There are two principal clubs in the Middle School:
Middle School Service ClubMSSC was started by a group of students and their parents who wanted an opportunity to participate in community service projects together. The club has grown over the years and now benefits a wide variety of organizations throughout the Merrimack Valley. The purpose of the MSSC is to provide opportunities for children in Grades 3, 4 and 5 to work with their families to serve others in the community. in doing so, Pike's motto, Non Sibi Solum ("not for oneself alone"), is realized outside the classroom. By supporting thoughtful, child-driven, civic involvement, the MSSC encourages students to see themselves as resourceful and knowledgeable agents of change. Grade 5 ImprovImprovisational theater is performing without a script, creating the characters and scene as you go. Improvisers spend lots of time practicing techniques and structures to help them think on their feet. In addition, troupes that play together spend time building trust, communication, and cooperation. Performers must know that when they are out there together on stage that they can trust and count on each other…after all, in improv you only have each other.Regardless of whether you want to be a comedian, a serious actor, or just want to work in a group and stretch your brain, improv can benefit everyone. In fact, there are improv troupes that offer training for businesses to promote teamwork, cooperation and trust. As students learn new skills they will have the opportunity to try them out in front of an audience performing at Middle School assemblies. |
