Grade 4 Printmaking '07
Fourth Graders in Ms. Hynes's art class experienced the process of printmaking while learning the relationships of colors to each other.
Students each used pencils to "engrave" designs into thin sheets of styrofoam. They then mixed paint colors on glass panes and transfered the paint to a roller, with which they coated their styrofoam engravings. Next, they placed various-colored sheets of paper over the inked styrofoam "plates," printing the designs onto the paper.
The students experimented with combinations of ink colors and paper colors to achieve some highly creative and striking results.
