Grade 8 Miniature Golf Courses

The objective of this assignment is to integrate coordinate geometry, scale drawings, 3D geometry, and the algebra of lines. Students learn about slope, both in a 2D coordinate geometry and in the 3D sense of a ramp.

They first drew plans on the coordinate plane, and then they transferred the plans to a larger piece of oak tag, having to pay attention to scale. Next they played with materials to create the walls, blockers, obstacles, etc. Voila! You can certainly see the various creative results.
