Drama teacher Trisha Gordon and Music/ Music Theater/Arts Department Head Larry Robertson have taken the Ninth Graders, some of whom have never been on stage before, and given them the confidence to act and sing, while recreating scenes of what it was like for Japanese-American citizens to be placed in internment camps during World War II. The theme (with a tie to their humanities course), the music (with Eighth Grade chorus and an orchestra), and the author (our very own Trisha Gordon, who compiled the stories) provide an example of the cooperation, interdisciplinary collaboration, initiative, and risk taking that make Pike a great place to teach and learn.
