Le Tour de Pike 2008

In three separate contests, Mrs. Schwartz's Eighth, Seventh, and Sixth Grade French classes competed for the coveted yellow t-shirt emblazoned with the race's logo in this year's first ever Tour de Pike, replete with the thrill of victory and the minor disappointment of defeat.

Riding undersized tricycles on the grueling course from the Pike driveway to the flagpole, each grade ran several heats, with the winners of each heat battling it out in a final heat for that grade.

Cheering crowds lined the course, and several handmade signs urged the racers on in French. Pre-Kindergarteners made a particularly strong showing of support with signs and cries of "Allez! Allez!" and "Vite! Vite!"

In a short ceremony at the end of each grade's final race, Mrs. Schwartz presented the winner with the prized yellow shirt amid an outpouring of applause and admiration.
