The Pike School Intern Scholar Grants

The Pike School believes that the quality of our future civic, social and economic life depends on children being educated in an environment that is inclusive of all individuals.  As part of our commitment to supporting and diversifying the teaching corps, Pike has established two $10,000 grants. The Intern Scholar Grants are open to men and people of color seeking Massachusetts initial licensure and a master's degree in elementary education.

To qualify for one of The Pike School Intern Scholar Grants, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of a B.A. or B.S. at a four year accredited college or university
  • G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstration of a strong commitment to children and elementary education

Application Process
Complete and send all Lesley University application materials, The Pike School need-based scholarship and Intern Scholar Grants financial application form, and your Intern Scholar essay to:

Submission Deadlines
The first-round application deadline for the fall 2010 semester is December 15, 2009. The second-round application deadline is March 10, 2010. Applications received after March 10, 2010, will be considered for both admission and The Intern Scholar Grants on a space-and-funds available basis. We encourage applicants to submit their applications as early as possible for consideration for The Intern Scholar Grants.

Grant Amount
      $10,000 to partially cover cost of Lesley/Pike tuition

Please respond to The Pike School mission statement:  The Pike School seeks to develop within its community a life-long love of learning, respect for others, the joy of physical activity and a creative spirit.  A Pike education is a journey that prepares students to be independent learners and responsible citizens.
