In February, the Pike Library sponsored a discussion of Mitali Perkin's The Not-So-Star-Spangled Life of Sunita Sen. The highlights of the evening included the delicious Indian sweets and the opportunity to try on beautiful saris.
Mitali Perkin's visit to Pike on March 4th and 5th was a great success. Both the Middle and Upper School enjoyed her presentation of “Life Between Cultures”, where she talked about growing up Indian in the United States. The writing workshops with 5th and 7th grade produced some excellent pieces. Mitali was so pleased with them that she has posted some samples on her blog at http://www.mitaliblog.com/2008/03/in-which-we-create-sense-of-place.html . Check them out!
