Summer Greetings Parents ~

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer break, but believe it or not, break is just about half over, and there are roughly 47 days left until school starts!  But who’s really counting?

This is just a note to give you some insight into the Parents Association plans at Pike for the coming year.
In my past 2 years on the board I have seen the challenges the Parents Association faces in striving to keep the traditions alive without being the “same old thing”.  Susan Demetri did a great job this past year leading the PA in this direction.

This year’s basic schedule is outlined below.  Please take a moment to review.  As you review don’t forget the opportunities for you to grab at in volunteering!  There’s an opportunity for everyone.

ALL SCHOOL EVENTS

Fall Supper – September 18. This event is the “welcome back” dinner for all parents, faculty, and staff (also one of my personal favorites).

Halloween Party/Dance – October 26.  In an effort to try and make this event more “all school” we are trying a different format this year.  Watch for further details!

Spaghetti Supper – February 21.  A family favorite served by the 6th graders.

Spring Fling/BBQ – April 22.  Tentatively scheduled.

CLASS EVENTS

School Concerts and Plays are supported and assisted by the PA.
The PA also assists the teachers with the class parents in many classroom events.

Graduation Dance and Reception are also supported and assisted by the PA.

While these are some of the obvious ways the PA is involved at Pike, the not so obvious include the informal Faculty Welcome Back Breakfast held in January and the more formal Faculty and Staff Appreciation Breakfast (another favorite) held in May.  These events are a thank you to all for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

The PA also tries to support financially some of the various groups and school-related activities.  These include the Middle School and Upper School Service Clubs.  Enrichment is something the PA focuses on and we currently have in the planning stages a resource center for parents in the Pike Library.

I thank you for your time in reading this letter.  Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Also, there are currently openings available for class parents in all grade levels.  Please email me if you are interested in volunteering!

Very truly yours~
