Web Gems

Several times each year, we'll suggest a few Web sites that we think are particularly useful for parents. Some sites will be just for you, and some will contain activities you and your children can share. All the activities are strictly optional; there's no expectation on the school's part that your children will be familiar with them. They're just for fun!

You can see additional, optional activities for students on the Student Backpack pages (Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School). You may also wish to read the Library Resource Guides, which contain information prepared by our librarians for selected classes.

National Geographic: My Wonderful World
It's in your power to make sure your kids are getting the most out of our wonderful world. There are things you can do at home, at school, and in your community. Get started with National Geographic's top 10 tips, or check out More to Explore for great links to scores of sites to help you and your family.

Exploratorium
San Francisco's Exploratorium science museum offers this wonderful Web site, complete with online activities and hands-on actiities you can do in your basement!

Interactive State Data Map
Information can be represented in many ways, and this applet allows the user to represent data about the states using colors. The state with the highest data value is darkest; other states are shaded proportionally. Investigate any of the data provided—or enter data of your own!
Can I Have a Word?
London's Barbican performance center provides these newly commissioned poems, exciting visual stimuli, and suggestions for student activities.

How We Choose Web Sites

Web sites are selected for their authority, information quality, suitability, and stability. Please be aware that web sites change over time.
