Speech Tournament on December 17

The Pike School had a great showing at the December 17 Speech Tournament at RJ Grey Junior High School! Twenty-two Pike students competed in nine of the ten speech events; displaying a range of skills and interests from interpretation events to impromptu to storytelling to demonstration. For some students, the December tournament was their first time competing—go novices (in bold below)!

This tournament marked the first chance to compete in a final round in addition to the three preliminary rounds.

Speech Tournament on January 7

Snow days and freezing temperatures, didn't stop Nashoba Brooks from hosting the January 7, 2018 Happy New Year Novice Tournament. This tournament is the only novice event scheduled this year and our Pike novices were simply outstanding! Twenty-two novices, eight of whom are members of Pike's Preparation Speech team, competed in three rounds plus finals.

The novice tournament is also an opportunity for eighth grade veteran students to judge the competition. Thank you to our poised and professional student judges for representing Pike so well; Arnav Bhakta, Myra Bhathena, Ilinca Hirtopanu, Kayla Lang, and Emilia Sanz-Rios!
