Pike Upper Schoolers Recognized by Scholastic Art Awards
Posted 02/07/2017 02:32PM

Several members of Pike's Upper School earned recognition for their artwork as part of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, a prestigious regional and national competition for young artists and writers in grades 7-12. The students mentioned below are among the winners for the Massachusetts region. The gold key award-winners will move on to the national competition.

Award winners represent the top-20 percent of all entries with gold key winners representing the top-10 percent of work in each of the 29 categories. Gold-key artwork will be displayed as part of an exhibition at Boston City Hall in March.

At the national level, Pike students will have a chance to earn scholarships, see their works exhibited or published and to be honored by a program considered "the most prestigious recognition for creative teens in the U.S." Past winners of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, which date back to 1923, include: Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, Stephen King and John Updike, among others.

Congratulations to all of our students!
