In this art project with Mrs. Taylor, Pre-Kindergarteners create a series of communal paintings in the style of artist Jackson Pollock. While standing in a circle around a canvas, each student spatters paint from a cup holding a specific color. After a few moments, the cups are passed to the next student, so that each student now has use of a new color. Once the cups have made a full revolution and each student has used each color, the painting is finished. The canvases are spectacular, as are many of the smocks and a few of the faces.
Grade 9 Photoshop Collages
This unit focused on combining students' prior experience with fundamental art elements and design principles with a new creative medium. utilizing Adobe Photo shop, students were asked to "build" original images from a variety of source materials.
The first ten images are the result of an assignment to incorporate images that represent the major components of their "family story." The next fourteen images result from an assignment in which they chose vintage images from several categories.
Grade 7 Ceramics 2011
With this project, the Seventh Graders were introduced to the basic techniques involved in hand-building a complex form, in this case a "container." The students had the option of creating either a traditional box form or taking a more sculptural approach to the assignment. They also had the option to create a teapot as a form of container.
