The Pike School will be hosting the Parent to Parent Speaker Dennis Rosen, MD on Tuesday, October 28. Dr. Rosen will be presenting: "Early to Bed and Early to Rise: Helping Your Child Get a Good Night's Sleep". 7:30pm – 9:00pm. Getting kids up, out of bed, and off to school in the morning can be maddeningly difficult, matched only by the challenge of getting them into bed and off to sleep at night. How much sleep do children and adolescents really need? What underlying issues drive our sleep patterns and determine how easy (or not) it is for children to fall asleep and to wake up? Why do some children have trouble keeping their eyes open past 8:00 PM, while others seem to catch their second wind at that hour? How do sleep patterns interface with brain development and impact academic strengths and weaknesses? In this talk, Dr. Dennis Rosen, pediatric pulmonologist and Associate Medical Director of Boston Children's Hospital Center for Pediatric Sleep Disorders, will answer these questions and more, and provide strategies that you can use to improve your child's sleeping patterns and habits. Dr. Rosen is a frequent contributor to the New York Times, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, JAMA, and posts regularly on his blog Sleeping Angels.
