Faculty & Staff Updates 2021

As we close out the 2020-21 academic year, we offer gratitude to those who are moving on from Pike and welcome with enthusiasm those folks joining our community. Below we’ve captured some of the personnel changes for 2021-22.

Retiring

Telly Jorden
Telly is retiring from The Pike School after 34 years of outstanding teaching. With the exception of a two-year stint in Pre-K, she has been part of the first grade team for her entire Pike career. Telly has had a role in many initiatives over the years, from curriculum development to bringing team teaching to the Lower School, and has mentored countless teachers through the intern program. All three of Telly’s children are grateful Pike alum, and we will miss her and her whole family tremendously!

Tobi Levis
Tobi Levis has been a learning specialist at Pike for 24 years and has been a mentor to many learning specialists. Tobi has been referred to as a “unicorn” at Pike as she is the one person who for many years has been able to work in all three divisions. She may go from a reading lesson with a younger student to a 9th grade geometry lesson. In addition to her learning specialist role, Tobi has also coordinated the administration of the SSAT at Pike and privately tutored many students as well. It will be hard to fill Tobi’s shoes.

Gale Mender
Gale came to Pike in 2011 as a part-time front desk receptionist and in 2015 took on the role of Assistant to the Division Heads.  Since then she has supported Division Heads, Team Leaders and the secondary school advising program.  Gale approaches everything she does thoughtfully and with an eye to detail. She will be greatly missed and wish her all the best in her retirement.

Our commitment to health and safety was a priority this year. Our community could not have successfully navigated this challenging year without the enthusiasm, commitment and expertise of the following team members. Thank you for jumping in, rising to the challenge and supporting students and faculty - we are grateful!
