Whether leading the eighth-grade history research paper, a tradition he started in his very first year that is still a pillar of the program today, or navigating the complexities of the modern world, his goal has remained constant: to accompany students as they reach new intellectual heights.

Retirement Spotlight: Sharon Libront on 24 Years of Community, Growth, and Joy

Sharon’s expertise in literacy is matched by her deep appreciation for the changing landscape of education. She reflects that the most profound shift over her 24 years hasn’t been the technological leap from chalkboards to screens, but the "beautiful move toward the 'human' side of the classroom." She adds that "today, we value the whole child, their wellness, and their spirit more than ever." To keep pace with this evolution, Sharon has traded the comfort of a perfect lesson plan for the power of presence, learning that being an educator is about having the flexibility to grow alongside students.

As Julie prepares for her next chapter, her reflections are bittersweet. When asked what she will miss most, she speaks immediately about the "network of people" and the daily camaraderie of colleagues who have become dear friends. "Pike is a remarkable place," she notes, reflecting on the support and warmth she has experienced across the board. She carries with her the profound impact of students and alums, whose recent feedback on her methodical teaching brought her to tears. "To have a student remember aspects of class like that... that's why we do it," she says.
