SummerReads 2021

he Reading Without Walls Challenge

SummerReads 2021 from the Pike Library is centered on the Reading Without Walls Challenge created in 2016 by Gene Luen Yang, a former National Ambassador of Young People’s Literature. He challenges us to:

1. Read a book about a character who doesn’t look like you or live like you.

2. Read a book about a topic you don’t know much about.

3. Read a book in a format that you don’t normally read for fun. This might be a chapter book, a graphic novel, a book in verse, a picture book, short stories, or an audiobook.

Are you ready to broaden your reading horizons?

SummerReads 2020

At the Pike Library, we encourage students to read widely, whether it be a new genre or series, a book set in another country, or about a character different from themselves. By opening the pages of a novel or a picture book, we can travel to the Harlem Renaissance, to Hong Kong, or to Hogwarts, all courtesy of an author’s imagination.

This year, all of our lists are just a click away. The multicolored links for 2020 highlight books that were published during the past year. We've also kept access to our 2019 lists that include extensive recommendations. Happy reading!
