Physical Education

The joy of movement.

Pike's physical education program is designed to help students grow and develop physically, socially, and emotionally. Teamwork, resilience, and good sportsmanship are emphasized in traditional and nontraditional games and activities. Our physical education team are experienced educators who are passionate about helping students discover the joy and benefits of lifelong fitness.

Student running outside,

In Lower School we focus on developing movement, balance, and spatial awareness—the skills required for moving through space. Games tend to be collaborative rather than competitive in these early years and include working with a variety of apparatus including balls, beanbags, ropes and hoops.

Students working together on the obstacle course.

In Upper School we focus on developing versatile movers with the confidence to learn new skills and the desire to engage in physical pursuits on a life-long basis. This includes traditional sports and an outdoor challenge course unit.
