Pike Plus

The positive and nurturing environment that The Pike School students receive in the classroom every day continues into the after-school program, Pike Plus. Our dedicated after-school teachers carefully plan a variety of fun and interesting activities—from craft-making, to story time, and games.

The Pike Plus Program also includes plenty of time for just being a child on the playground or free play in a classroom. For Middle and Upper School students, there is time set aside to work on homework.

About Pike Plus

Fees 2021-2022 School Year

For the 2021 - 2022 school year, Pike Plus is $6,975. This price is for five days a week from dismissal to 6:00 p.m. for the entire school year.
*There will be a $25 fee anytime a student is picked up later than 6:00 p.m. This will be billed at the end of each month.

On Professional Development Days, students who are not enrolled in our yearly Pike Plus Program can drop-in for $125 per day.

Hours of Operation

On regular school days, Pike Plus will be held from school dismissal to 6:00 p.m. The program is not available on when the school is closed on holidays, vacation days, or snow days.

On half-days, Pike Plus will be offered from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m.

On Professional Development days, Pike Plus will be offered from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. There will be no additional charge for Professional Development days for students already enrolled in Pike Plus. For students not enrolled in Pike Plus, the cost will be $125 per day.

Schedule Changes

Please be sure to notify your child’s teacher and the Pike Plus staff at programs@pikeschool.org or call 978-475-1197 anytime there is a change in your child's schedule. Changes may include: going home with a friend rather than attending Pike Plus, being picked up earlier than usual from Pike Plus, or being picked up by someone not indicated on the Driver Authorization Form.

Enrichment Programs

Our Enrichment Programs are a great way for students to explore and try new things. Each program will meet once a week from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Students who are also enrolled in Pike Plus will report to check-in after their program has finished. Students not enrolled in Pike Plus, must be picked up at 4:30 p.m.

There will be different programs offered in the fall, winter, and spring. Our spring session will begin on March 22 and run through June 10, unless noted otherwise in the program description. Each program has a limited number of spots and there will also be a minimum number of participants in order for a program to run.

Enrichment programs are not held on Professional Development Days, early dismissal days, holidays, school vacations, and snow days.

Grades Pre-K-2

Budding Builders
Ever wonder what you can create with a pile of bricks? Let your imagination run wild while you invent, innovate, and build. Problem solve with teammates or explore new designs on your own! All children will have time to create something new and share ideas while making new friends! Throughout the session there will be optional lego challenges and lots of time for free play. At the end of the session, students will leave with a special keepsake to remember all of their creations.

Card Sharks
Do you like to play cards? Each week we will learn new card games and have time to play together. We will build skills in math and have lots of fun!

Grades 3-5

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run, encourages girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. The tested curriculum blends physical activity with skill development that enables girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. In today’s unpredictable world, the strategies learned at Girls on Run are more important than ever. *This program meets twice a week 3:30-4:45 p.m.

Ultimate Frisbee
This co-ed program will introduce students to the sport of Ultimate Frisbee with a focus on fun, fair play. Students will learn fundamentals including throwing, catching, and the basic rules of the game. Cleats are optional; sneakers will work well for this activity. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and wear clothing that they don't mind getting dirty. This program is open to all Middle School students.

Actor's for Social Change
Note: Students who have not previously been involved are welcome to join this term. With an original written piece roles can always be added.

Students will explore issues of equity and justice in society through the lens of Theatre. The ensemble will delve into multi-faceted topics of their interest collaboratively through writing, improvisation, and devising techniques culminating in an original performance to share with the community.

Creative Writing Club
Students who enjoy writing will love this supportive and generative one hour after school creative session. We will explore techniques to get ideas flowing, tap into our senses and write about what moves us in the form of poetry, creative non fiction, flash fiction or short stories. No previous creative writing experience is necessary. Join us!

Ultimate Frisbee
This co-ed program will introduce students to the sport of Ultimate Frisbee with a focus on Spirit of the Game. Ultimate is a fast-paced, non-contact, self-refereed sport with similarities to soccer, basketball, and football. Teams score when a player catches the disc in the endzone after passing it from player to player. Spirit of the Game is a core element of Ultimate and refers to the importance of fun and fair play, knowledge of the rules, and respect for teammates and opponents. Students will be taught to throw and catch the disc, as well as the basic rules of the sport.

Since Ultimate is a self-refereed sport, players will also learn how to call fouls on the field and how to communicate respectfully in the event of a disagreement. This program is open to all Upper School students, with no prior knowledge or experience required.
