Celebrating Lunar New Year: Tradition, Community, and Belonging

The Pike School community came together to celebrate the Lunar New Year in ways that were both joyful and deeply meaningful, honoring traditions while strengthening the connections that bring us together.

In Lower School, the gymnasium was filled with the sights and sounds of the celebration as students gathered for a special assembly marking the Year of the Horse. Through traditional dances, vibrant student performances, and the sharing of meaningful customs, the morning offered an engaging and enriching experience for all. The assembly concluded with well-wishes for the year ahead, setting a hopeful and celebratory tone.

In Upper School, students spent time in community during a special gathering focused on connection and tradition. Together, they prepared homemade dumplings, shared personal and family customs, and created space for conversation and learning. These moments allowed students to honor the traditions of their peers while sharing their own, fostering authenticity and a strong sense of belonging.

Across divisions, the celebration reflected an essential aspect of Pike: a commitment to building a community where every individual feels seen, valued, and connected. By honoring cultural traditions and learning from one another, students gain new perspectives and also strengthen their own sense of identity and belonging.

We are grateful to the students and families who shared their time, traditions, and experiences to make this celebration possible. It was a joyful reminder of the power of community and the richness of what each of us brings to it.
