First Week of Middle School and Reminders

Dear Middle School Families,

I love starting my mornings with a happy hello or eager wave from our Middle Schoolers at morning drop-off. In the first three days of school, students have toured their learning and play spaces, attended specialist classes in travel groups, and calmly and successfully practiced a fire drill. It has been a joy to see Middle Schoolers reuniting with old friends, getting to know new ones, and filling the hallways with laughter and learning. In classes, students are beginning their journey as musicians, artists, mathematicians, writers, athletes, and more. This week has flown by at Pike!

I’ve had the pleasure of joining read-aloud reflection circles, getting-to-know-you games, Q&A sessions, and all about me activities in classrooms across the Middle School this week. All of these rituals are a reflection of the care and thoughtfulness teachers have taken as they establish communities of learning in their anchor rooms and as grade-level teams.

I have enjoyed getting to know your children and look forward to getting to know you better, as well. Please see below for important information and, as always, reach out to me with any questions.

Three cheers for a great first week of school,
Uzma
