Honoring Cynthia E. Pike: A Celebration of Legacy and Community

Honoring Cynthia E. Pike: A Celebration of Legacy and Community

In April, the Pike community gathered to celebrate what would have been Cynthia E. Pike’s 135th birthday, marking a milestone in our school's history.

Cynthia E. Pike, a true trailblazer in education, founded The Pike School in 1926 with a vision of empowering young minds and inspiring future generations. This celebration beautifully captured the impact of Cynthia Pike’s work and the values she instilled in Pike from the very beginning.

Led by our Upper School Student Council and Upper School teachers, with enthusiastic support from Lower School students, faculty, and staff,  the day reflected the collaboration and community spirit central to Pike’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

The celebration featured a moving tribute song titled “Dear Cynthia” written and performed by an eighth grade student, a gallery walk featuring heartfelt letters written by students to Cynthia, and the much-anticipated unveiling of Cynthia E. Pike’s official portrait. The festivities concluded with a birthday cake and a lively dance party, bringing students and staff together for a joyful celebration!

We are proud to honor Cynthia E. Pike’s lasting legacy and the incredible community she helped to build, a community that continues to learn, grow, and move forward together.
