Dear Pike families,
We would like to welcome the following Pike personnel:
Stacey Aufiero is Pike’s first Director of Auxiliary Programs. Stacey is currently acting as our Daily Risk Mitigation Team leader. Stacey earned her undergraduate degree from Springfield College in Health Studies and her Masters in Education from American International College. Most recently, she was been the Youth and Family Program Director at the Andover/North Andover YMCA.
Ruthie Bodel is joining our fifth grade team this fall. She is a graduate of Bowdoin College where she earned her B.A. in psychology. She went on to the Bank Street School of Education where she earned her Masters in Childhood Education and General and Special Education. She has taught at the Brunswick School, Brearley School, and Nightingale-Bamford, three fine independent schools. We look forward to the energy and enthusiasm for teaching she will add to our community.
Kate Camuso is joining the Upper School faculty this fall, teaching three sections of English and one section of History. She earned her B.A. in English and History with a Minor in Spanish from Northwestern University. She has also earned two Master's degrees, one in Teaching from Loyola Marymount University and another in English Literature from Boston University. She has taught in Spain, California and Massachusetts.
Christine Eddis is our first Lower/Middle School Coordinator of Instructional Support. This position was created as we restructured for next year with Marybeth Heyd serving as Head of Lower and Middle School. Christine earned her B.A. in Art History from Vassar College and her M.A. in Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education. For the 20-21 school year, Christine will be serving as the 5th grade OCL teacher?
Fred Gross is joining our seventh grade team to teach math and advise one of our Upper School sections. Fred comes to Pike with a wealth of experience as a teacher as well as a math coach. Most recently a Math Specialist at East Elementary School in Sharon, MA, and before that a Math Coach at The Park School in Brookline. We are so excited for all he will contribute to our community during the 2020-2021 school year. Fred holds a Masters’ Degree from Lesley University and a Bachelor of Science from Ohio University.
Sam de Soto is joining the Fine Arts Department as a co-teacher with George Philips. Sam earned his Master of Music in Music Education and his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at Boston University. We will learn much from Sam’s unique background and expertise in choral and general music education, along with research on the mainstream music classroom, and his work as a professional vocal artist.
Toby Spector is joining our Upper School Math department. Toby earned his B.A. in Mathematics and Business from Skidmore College. He has taught at Statesville Montessori School and Applewild School before coming to Pike. Toby has also coached basketball and cross country and was captain of his college golf team. He lives in Reading, MA and first learned about Pike when he brought his young daughter to one of our outdoor movie nights.
Charly Weiss is joining our fifth Grade Team this fall. She is a graduate of Tulane University and earned her Master of Science in Education from Wheelock College in Boston, MA. Charly has been a classroom teacher for over 16 years across all elementary grades and most recently taught at The Country School, a wonderful STEAM-based independent school in Madison, CT. She is looking forward to joining the Pike community.
Our new Contract Substitutes throughout the Lower, Middle and Upper School Divisions
We are excited to recently hire six contract substitute teachers to support all of our teachers this year with various duties and classroom coverages daily. Many of them you may recognize and know as valued substitute teachers and community members and some are new to our community. We are grateful for their support and commitment to our faculty and students.
