Upper School Science Teacher Honored as Essex County Science Educator of the Year

We are thrilled to announce that Kathleen Boucher-Lavigne, a dedicated and inspiring member of Pike’s Upper School Science faculty, has been awarded the prestigious County Science Educator of the Year Award by the Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers (MAST). This distinguished award celebrates Kathleen’s outstanding commitment to leadership in science education and her dedication to advancing high-quality, engaging science learning for both her students and peers.

The Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers (MAST) is a professional organization devoted to improving science education across all grade levels. As the state chapter of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), MAST plays a crucial role in shaping national and state policies on science education. Each year, MAST honors exceptional educators who have made a significant impact on the science education landscape in Massachusetts. As MAST describes it, “Each year our organization seeks to honor those among us who have contributed in a beneficial way to the improvement of science education in the state of Massachusetts.”

Kathleen’s work at Pike reflects this dedication to excellence, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of science among her students and her peers. Kathleen shared, “I feel deeply honored to accept this award, and I’m incredibly excited to keep bringing empathetic, affirming, and meaningful science curriculum to Pike.”
