Come one! Come all!
The Pike School's Ninth Grade Class Presents "The Struggles" by Kendra Thomas
The story centers around a student dealing with the challenges of an ADHD and dyslexia diagnosis. While at first she is frustrated and filled with self-doubt, as the story goes on, she gets a glimpse into her future and realizes that she is much more than her diagnosis. Her future self finds great success due to both her talents and strengths as well as the obstacles she has had to overcome as a student. As much as she wishes these obstacles would just go away, she realizes that they have made her a stronger person, more resilient, more understanding of others, and more equipped to face challenges in the future.
The ninth graders are telling this story both to remind us all that "the struggles" we face will make us stronger and to dispel common misconceptions about ADHD and dyslexia. On the night of the show, the lobby will be filled with facts about both ADHD and dyslexia. Students will also be highlighting successful adults with one or both of these diagnoses.
The show will take place on Friday, March 2 at 7:00 pm.
Tickets will be sold for $5 in the theater lobby on the night of the performance. This show is suitable for students in 3rd grade and up.
This year's flyer was designed by ninth graders Max Fan and Lizzy Chai.
